The basic story:  Lucy, the serial dater, falls in love with Adam, rather quickly.  He loves her, too.  He also loves making people happy, any way that he can.  And, hey, if he gets some action in the progress, that just shows how giving he is.  When Adam meets Lucy's family, he doles out the pleasure and becomes the simultaneous dater.  The story is told in five parts - Lucy and Adam, Lucy's middle sister and Adam, Lucy's brother and Adam, Lucy's oldest sister and Adam, and Lucy and Adam's wedding.  All of this is in Dublin, Ireland.

That's a whole lot of Adam.  Good thing he is played so well by Stuart Townsend.  Women should probably watch him juggle all of the siblings and think "Eew, get away from him.  He's a jerk!"  But, instead, you find yourself thinking how smart he is for figuring out how to sneak around so masterfully.  And with siblings, no less!  I think this is helped by the presentation of his character - he's SUCH a good scumbag that you almost put him in the fairytale realm and just smile and nod when he explains that he just wants to please everyone.  Girls want him.  Guys want to be him.  A guy in my row at the theater proclaimed Adam his hero half-way through the movie.

The movie is basically centered around an idea presented by Lucy's oldest sister as she thinks about her baby:  One day, you'll be in a mess and someone will tell you that all you need is a good shag.  The sad part is, they might be right.

Most of what's going on between Lucy and Adam in the first section gets skewed by the other stories, making for some good entertainment.  One bit was left hanging, which bothered me, but I won't do a spoiler.

This is a funny movie, lots of good laughs.  The acting is all good - Kate Hudson can talk the Irish talk quite well.  The movie presents an idea that could make for some good discussions, but somehow it still leaves you with the overpowering thought, "That was cute."
