I am not going to spend too much time with this review, because it is certainly not worth the effort.  "May" is one of the worst attempts at a horror film I have ever seen, and on the heels of such treats as "The Ring" and "Darkness Falls", I have to say this might be one of the worst horror films I have seen in my entire life, and that includes all of those cheesy Full Moon Entertainment ventures like "Blood Dolls" and "Shrieker".

Angela Bettis stars as May.  May is lonely.  May wants companionship.  May decides to start killing people and using their parts to create a Frankenstein like creature to be her friend.  Where is the horror?  Well, the horror is suppose to come when May kills people.  Why doesn't it come?  Because May is not scary.  Sometimes, she is a little creepy, but in a "Welcome to the Dollhouse" kind of way, not a "Carrie" kind of way.  And, what was with all the gore?  I like blood and violence in a horror flick just as much as the next guy, but the blood and gore in "May" seemed out of place and completely overused.  Slap an NC-17 rating on this one and maybe it will prevent more people from being subjected to it.

How can a movie be so wretched?  Well, my friends, that is a difficult question with a simple answer:  a movie can be so wretched because the script is wretched.  Without a good script, there can be no good final product.  This one was penned and directed by Lucky McKee.  Never heard of that name and I hopefully never will again.

So, in conclusion, I will say that "May" is the worst film I have seen, thus far, in 2003, and will probably either op, or b close to the top on my End of the Year list for the worst films I have seen.  I feel extremely bad for the horror genre, because that is what "May" is billed as.  Why can't they have a genre called Crap.  If they did, "May" would have little difficulty fitting in, I can assure you.
