"Deuce Bigalow" was funny.  "The Animal" sucked.  "The Hot Chick" is by far Rob Schneider's funniest movie yet.  It is hilarious with a capital "H"!

The movie begins in ancient Egypt, where a bride evades marriage to a guy by trading identities with another woman.  She does this by putting on a special earring.  The other woman does the same.  The earring became preserved throughout the years and is now on display at a store in the mall that sells ancient artifacts.

Enter Jessica Spencer, who is the most popular girl in school.  She browses around the store with her ditsy companions and spots this earring.  She wants to purchase it, but the cashier adamantly tells her that it's only for display.  So Jessica hides the earrings in a box that contains another purchase and walks out the store with them.

On their way back, they stop by a gas station, which is being robbed by ruthless petty thief Rob Schneider.  On his way out, he impersonates a gas station clerk.  When the girls leave, he sees that one of the earrings fell on the ground.  He picks it up and takes it home.

While rummaging through all the things he stole, Schneider finds the earring and jokingly puts it on.  At the same time, Jessica is also wearing the earring and by the next morning...they have exchanged identities.  She is now a he and he is now a she.

I've been recently blasting gross-out comedies, but that's mainly because there were too much of them!  Lately, I think they have cut down on the gross-out flicks and that's good, because I don't mind a good gross-out comedy every now and then.  All the gags in this movie are cheap and sometimes very predictable, but they kept me roaring with laughter.

Schneider gives a fine performance as a woman stuck in a man's body.  In "The Animal" he simply appeared like a man doing bad impressions of different animals.  In this case, it was much easier to suspend disbelief, because I didn't actually see Rob Schneider in the role.  I saw a woman!

For those of you who are easily offended, "The Hot Chick" may not appeal to you.  There are gags involving obesity, homosexuality and Mexican and Asian stereotypes.  But those who can easily take a joke should find these gags utterly harmless.

The girls who plays the main character is extremely hot and so is her best friend, who in a way resembles a blonde Katie Holmes.  Sure, the high school students are either jocks with washboard abs or hot blondes with big boobs and no acne, and if I didn't get so many laughs from the film I probably would've found those elements nauseatingly clichéd.  But as long as I did get tons of laughs, I was willing to forgive those stereotypes and simply relish every hot blonde that appeared on screen.  There's even a PG-13 (which means no nudity) strip club scene at the end.

In standard tradition, you can't have a movie starring a current or former SNL cast member without having at least one cameo by another SNL cast member.  Adam Sandler make some hilarious appearances as a pothead, who resembles a white rastafarian (sp).  His running line is "Yeah, and you can put your weed in it too."  You'll see why it's hilarious when you watch the movie.

"The Hot Chick" isn't classy in even the simplest sense, but it kept me laughing the whole time.  Maybe a few flatulence gags could've been trimmed (they seemed to have been thrown in just for the hell of it), but other than that I appreciated it for its pure tastelessness.  And by the way, for those familiar with Schneider's two previous films--yes, the "huge bitch" gag makes another appearance, but I won't reveal where.

Do I usually enjoy Rob Schneider movies?  No.  Did I think "Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo" was entertaining?  No.  What about "The Animal"?  Forget about it.  So, why did I walk into the theatre for "The Hot Chick" and expect to be impressed?  I didn't.  I figured it would be the same obnoxious comedy, filled with some celebrity cameos and scene after scene of gross-out humor and adolescent larfs.  I hit the nail on the head.  Rob Schneider is not funny to me.  Neither is Adam Sandler.  They are just a couple of people who should rethink their acting strategies and try a different approach.  Sandler did that with "Punch Drunk Love" and succeeded.  Schneider, however, I do not believe can do anything else.  He is just no good at what he does.  He needs to face that and buy a restaurant somewhere.  However, as long as funny hungry teens keep on flocking to the movies to see this crap, there will always be a market for it.  When I was a teenager, this wasn't the kind of crap I went to see.  I was waiting in line for "The Ice Storm" and "Happiness", not "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Varsity Blues".  I guess I was just a dork.  Dork or not, this flick is no good, unless you are one of those kids mentioned above--then you'll just love it.  For their sake, I won't give this one zero pops.
